    camelia,

PowerISO is a nice app. Whoever wrote that article has a poor understanding of what it can do.

+1. I used it in the past to burn CDs and DVDs and making ISOs, and it worked great. Why don't you try it for yourself and see if you like it? They have a free trial right?

Thanks Brian K, I don't know the the app so I can't tell

Thanks GrafZeppelin, yes they have a free trial, I contact PowerISO team and the provide me a link to download the app that is not Ad-supported, they called "pure"

BTW which app are you using at this moment to making ISOs?

    Thanks

As for now I don't deal with ISOs anymore. I probably will just switch to the free alternatives if I needed to work with ISOs again since they have what I mostly need, although PowerISO has some features which are not available in the free alternatives IIRC. Can't remember what, however. :ouch:

ISO Workshop to Make, Burn & Convert

    Then...

Virtual CloneDrive to mount an image

    Both freeware and extremely effective

Yes, ISO Workshop does include bundleware, but can easily be avoided by unchecking the option during install.

This is the duo I use and I absolutely enjoy it

I recommend this combo very strongly, only because it's light, effective and has never failed me once.

Don't get me wrong, PowerISO is a good piece of software, but why not try some freebies before making a final decision on PowerISO, especially if those freebies can achieve pretty much the same thing.

It seems Virtual CloneDrive is full of malware?

Hahaha, I guarantee you there is no malware included with Virtual CloneDrive

Think of were those people are downloading the installer from....CNET.

I bet my paycheck that those people downloaded the CNET bundleware installer without even thinking about it, then once it was downloaded they just clicked next, next, next without even looking at any of the options.

That's the problem with CNET Bundleware installs and people who don't know how to download the right installer....you eventually get people complaining that legit programs have malware in them.

Trust me, I wouldn't recommend something to you if it contained malware.

Plus, if you're thinking about downloading it, I would highly recommend doing so from the actual people who made the product
    Here: http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html.

This could also be a reason why people at CNET Think it contains Malware:

Look at the official installer versus the CNET Bundled Installer:

Here is the Official Installer (From Official website) - 0 threats detected out of 46 engines:

~ VirusTotal Results Removed per Policy ~

Now, here is the CNET Bundleware Installer - 4 threats detected out of 46 engines:

~ VirusTotal Results Removed per Policy ~

The engines that detected the CNET Bundleware Installer as a threat, were:

Dr. Web, ESET NOD32, Trend Micro Housecall and Vipre.

    camellia,

What do you want PowerISO to do. If you want to Edit the Boot Image File then OK. I doubt the freebies can do that. Otherwise the freebies might satisfy your needs.
