    Ahem,

Guys from HitmanPro are busy with an real time element. What about a WP version that doesnot warn the customer but invokes a HMP scan and then offers to remove the intruder (once for free, next time paid).

    Regards Kees

You know after I posted that I was thinking Hitman Pro and WinPatrol would make a pretty good combo.

I would like to thank everyone for their interest in my comments which are obviously confusing and I apologize for causing any confusion. I am grateful to all of you who meant well in spreading my tweets and regret that by not posting the entire story it made for misconceptions.

Let me elaborate as much as I can without getting to personal although folks who know me well will understand.

    1) Earlier this month I was presented with multiple opportunities which would result in me having less of a role in the future of WinPatrol. This part is true even though some additional speculation led to what I referred to as rumors.

    2) I did give serious consideration to reducing my role as Scotty's master. Fortunately, I still have plenty of ideas on ways to enhance our program. My major motivation in stepping down was my inability to put in as much time as WinPatrol fans deserve. This lack of time is due to a serious family illness which does not seem to be improving as I had hoped. If you've ever been a primary care giver to someone in a life or death situation you'll know how it can kick the crap out of you.

    3) After listening to feedback from Fans of WinPatrol and encouragement from my wife Cindi I decided it was not in anyone's best interest for me to reduce my WinPatrol duties. I've received many offers to help from online and especially my fellow Microsoft MVP's. Locally, we have many friends in our small town and Cindi has a great support group with her fellow Rotarians an organization I highly recommend. Even Bill Gates is a big fan of Rotary and their efforts to stamp out Polio.

    4) So with Cindi's encouragement and help from friends I expect to have a new version of WinPatrol (v21) to celebrate Scotty's 14th birthday by November 19th.

If you'd like to help I'm looking for some great graphics to celebrate Scotty's birthday and when it gets closer feel free to wish Scotty a Happy Birthday on your website.
Most people don't know that historically WinPatrol was first created as "Birthdayware" which I will explain more about in my blog next week.

    Thanks again,
    Bill Pytlovany

    Bill,

Best wishes with your family situation. Yep, that can really beat you down.

Awesome that you are going to come out with a new version.

A couple of days ago, I upgraded to Symantec Endpoint 12.1. All military guys/gals can now get this version for their home use. There seems to be some sort of conflict. Didn't see anything on your website about it. Right now, I'm just turning off Scotty. But I hate to do that. I like Scotty barking at me.

Certainly your family comes first. My family has been in what I think might be your situation for some time. You and your family will be in our prayers.

That's the problem with acquisitions, they rarely stay the same. I can assure you that you can kiss the lifetime license goodbye if it gets sold to a big boy, and there probably won't be any honoring of current ones. In fact, WinPatrol will probably just be dissected and put into another product.

Edit: Well, this is the second time I've replied to a thread, only to have it completely change direction without me ever seeing the new posts. I'm either blind or this forum is screwy, lol. OT, glad to see this very positive outcome and I wish Bill and family all the best :) :thumb:

    No.

    I cannot live without WinPatrol.

Who knows what I would do.

Maybe kick the cat. Maybe drink more.

    Thank you.

My best wishes for you Bill and your family. It's understandable that you have been thinking about giving up or maybe step down a bit.

Anything you decide about WP will be fine for me!
