Hey all. Once again, I'm sitting at another's computer with possible hijacks going on. She uses mozilla mostly, so I don't know how it would have gotten on her pc in the first place, but at any rate I've done a spybot scan and have a log from hijack this if someone would be so kind as to look it over for me. She's using winME with mozilla 1.5. Thanks in advance.

I'm craigbass76, just can't remember my password and can't access it from away. I ran the shredder, and it fixed (restored?) 4 IE files. I assume you wanted me to post another hijackthis log. I couldn't find a way to do one with the shredder program.

Thanks snowbound for responding so quickly.

    Hi craigbass76 ;)

It looks like CWShredder took care of the Hijacker.

Iam not an expert at reading these logs so that is as far as i can advise u. I do see a few more suspicious entries in your log though.

One of the experts will be along to give instructions on what to fix in your log.

Please be patient as most of the experts live in different time zones.

    Thanks

Thanks alot. I'm home now. Whenever anyone posts a fix or opinion, I'll just have her run VNC so I can fix it from home. I have two speeds; slow and stop. No rush at all; it'll get done eventually and her internet seemed to be working well anyway. Somehow (gasp) IE became the default browser, and I guess whatever pop-ups appeared were in IE windows, even though she was using Mozilla. I deleted IE once, but she needed it to run some other programs, so she's stuck having it for now.

Off topic, but are there some free game sites that do not include malicious software in the downloads? I would be looking for freeware, not shareware. Maybe if I can replace her games with ones that are more friendly, I can do away with IE on her machine, and stop having this problem. I can't imagine where else the spyware and hijackers come from.

    Hi craigbass76,

Check the items quoted above in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked.

    Then reboot and delete:
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\TOOLBAR <= entire folder (Huntbar spyware)

    Regards,

    Pieter

Pieter, I knew you'd come through for me. Should I pay you? Is there a "Donate to Pieter" link anywhere on the board?

    Now is it all set?

I would have deleted the R3 thing, but it's different than the one you mentioned. It's been a while since I made the other log, but this was the first chance I had to fix her puter. As it is, I had to use VNC to do it.

    Thanks again!
