I use FstStone Image viewer as my default image viewer. I hope some of the other users here are using it as well.

I wonder if anyone has noticed that FS Image Viewer is OK as far as images are concerned but it is very very poor in rendering "full screen text images" when u open these full screen text images in a smaller size( window mode-- not full screen). While windows builtin image viewer is good in this regard.

See the difference. This is a part of a full screen text page from Opera browser. When I opened full screen image in smaller window mode in FS Image Viewer, text was hardly readable.

I sent them a mail about this long ago but no response at all.

Without fully reading the links, I will say that I captured images with FS Iamge Capture and saved them as JPEG. Is it enough?

    JPEG is a lossy format.

Have you tried saving as a .png or .tif or .bmp (lossless)?

One guess... Is Smoothing checked (turned on) in FastStone? Depending on the photos in question, some are better with it on and some are not.

Interesting! I have never adjusted that setting. I'll have to try it... :)
