    This is the antivirus(about 100MB):
    http://www.avira.com/en/avira-free-antivirus

    this is the Rescue CD(257MB):

    http://www.avira.com/en/download/pr...ue-system/product/avira-antivir-rescue-system

    These are two different programs by the same company.
    Some softwares(such as Avast) have this option(boot scan) in their antivirus,but I have not heard Avira has this option,If I m wrong please tell me.

    Please Look at the topic..."poor repairing"....not poor "protection",not poor "detection",we are talking about REPAIRING
    Well it depends on lots of things....in my case there was no need to reinstall after ESET's cleanning.
    that was not a good idea to install Avira on that system...Installing ESET was the right answer and it did the job well

    Now I got you....
    well,I didnt open the same topic,but I complaint about this "system scan" which came to avira since V10.
    My statement was in 2011 when I tried to use v9 because I had found it more responsive
    first I could not update v9(cause Avira stopped its support of the previous versin),then they restart updating the software,but it was not that compatible with win7
    here you can see my dissatisfaction with Avira ' system scan"

    I think you are wasting your time, some people are not interested in constructive criticism.

    Well I can't see how you got me since this post your linking to is 16 months old and has nothing to do with your opening post in this thread here at Wilder's. Further more the version your complaining about is three versions old now.

    Good for you and your constructive criticism every now and then.....I just found Avira useless in repairing an infected system and I tried to share my experiment with others...the problem was described lated by PCMAG reviewer.

    My post here is about Avira's poor and in my opinion(as I described before) this is because their System Scan after every realtime detection which came to Avira from V10

    If you had searched my ID in Avira forum you could find my complaints about their System Scan

    I gave you a link and you did not read my posts there:

    Post 7:

    I started avira with v9 and have no experience of v8 but i can imagine you are right
    luke filewalker is terrible in v10(comparing to v9) and the other annoying thing in v10 is System Scan after finding every single malware which eats lots of resources,i do not know how v10 handle with a previously infected system whick has lots of viruses or lots of malwares attacking from time to time,cause as i saw lots of system scan will come to windows hanging the poor infected pc(i think that is one of the reasons avira is behind even avg in repairing:http://www.av-test.org/certifications.php

    you could also see my complaint here on the other topic:
    http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?page=Thread&postID=1135361

    Hello every one
    i ve been using the latest versions of Antivir free (v9,v10,2012) and i like v9 more than the others.
    it s light,very fast(manual scan,main menu,start up....every thing) and it does not have SYSTEM SCAN after every detection,so,i d like to use it, but whenever it starts,the notification comes and says there is a new version.
    how can i disable this noti...?thanks in advance

    This System Scan has to Avira since v10.
    I had complaint about it in 2011 while I was trying to use V9.
    I had the same problem when I tried to use V. 2012 to clean a system and it failed,so I created this topic.
    The BUG is still ther in the 2013 version(as explained by PCMAG reviewer) which is a Newborne.
    I hope you get me right now.

    *If you found Avira useless in repairing an infected system you've answered your own thread long ago: Use Avast or Eset if you think they are better, period. What do you want to share with others that you haven't already mentioned?

    I would not believe anything that PCMag reviews. They go where the money is. I don't think I have ever seen Norton be the best at anything, but they keep trying to get me to buy it. Look at some of the independent labs test results. Personally, I have had Avira remove many viruses that other will not even touch.
