A while back I experienced a CW Browser Hijack problem that seems to be fixed. (thanks to information posted on this forum)

I have run the most updated versions of AdAware, SpyBot, and Spy Sweeper and have Spyware Blaster installed.

At this point no problems are showing up.

After checking out this forum for a while and running HiJackThis I recognize that I still have some garbage entries in my registry that should be cleaned up.

Recently, I also am also experiencing a "Windows Installation" window pop-up when I boot-up the computer that the program I'm attempting taccess requires an AiO Software Disk to complete the installation. I have no idea what this software is or why it attempting to be installed!

I don't know if this is related to an adware/spyware problem or some other problem.

I need the advice of the experts in this forum to help me clean my registry and hopefully fix by boot-up problem.

I will greatly appreciate any help that you can give.

    Here is my HijacjtThis Log:

One more bit of information that may be important,

On an intermitent basis my computer date/time settings get changed with the date being advanced several days. The time is usually correct.

I have a relatively new computer and doubt that my battery needs replacing.

I know there are many people with more serious problems that mine, and I really don't mind waiting.

I'm just afaid that I may have slipped through the crack due to my multiple posts on this thread.

Just give me a sign that I won't be totally forgotten and I will wait as long as it takes.

    Thanks,

As good as you guys are, my little problem shouldn't take very long to fix.

    Hi Robert Davis,

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://us10.hpwis.com/
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-us10.hpwis.com/

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://us10.hpwis.com/
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-us10.hpwis.com/

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BEDDF182-9A86-484B-9B97-1E4675C5E7F2} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\bjcimo.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

Then reboot and copy the contents of the bold text to Notepad.
    Name the file Appinit.bat
    Save as type *All Files*
    Save on the Desktop.

    Reg save "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" windows1.hiv
    ren windows1.hiv windows.txt

    Double click on Appinit.bat
This will create a file on the desktop named windows.txt
    Post the content please.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Pieter,

Thank you so much for your response and help.

I followed your instructions and removed the liles in Hijack This.

After reboot I followed your instructions but for some reason my notepad has been uninstalled so I used wordpad instead. I was able to get the bat file to run and it produced the windows text file on the desktop however it is in notepad format I guess because when I try to open it in wordpad it is unreadable symbols.

I have instead attached the notepad file for you to review.

I still have the "windows installer" problem on bootup.

Also yesterday I noticed that my Norton firewall is no longer activating on bootup. It loads in the tray but is disabled. I can manually enable it but when I open the system status window it gives me an Internet Security Error and says that the Driver Initialization Failed 5004,115 and it shows that the Intrusion Detection is "OFF" and not working. I have a 2003 version that came loaded on my computer so I can't reinstall the program. I purchased the upgrade for the 2004 version, but when I try to install it it stops before finishing and asks for a disk called (this program) to be inserted.

I don't know if this has any relation to my spyware problems.

Just in case it might be helpful, I am including my new HJT file.

It looks like the BHO 549..... ; BEDD....... ; and FDD........ files are back!

Thanks again for you expert advice.

    Regards,

    Bob

    Pieter,

One more thing, yesterday while checking my startup programs I decided to disable a program called ALCXMNTR.EXE. Could this be the cause of my problem with my Norton firewall?

    Hi Robert,

    A few things.
    - ALCXMNTR.EXE is a soundcard driver, so hardly related to your firewall I think.
    - Your windows.txt was clean fortunately.
    - You should close as many Windows as possible when fixing. I can tell from your logs there was almost certainly a IE window open.
    - Aio could be a DVD player. Check your Hardware Configuration if you have one.

    Regards,

    Pieter
