Please help my computer is stuck and windows won't load

I purchased Disk director 9.0 on the web. I installed the software. As part of the install the system rebooted. and is now stuck. The message on the screen says: "Starting Acronis Loder, Press Escape for menu". The system just stays there, stuck. If I press ESC, I get "Error 2, ÖS Selector can't find necessary config, Please reinstall" and then the computer shuts down.

I have even manually deleted the files in the Acronis directory hoping that that would cause the OS loader to abort. No luck.

I am running XP Professional upgrade so there is no boot CD. F8 does not even start in safe mode, it does nothing.

Considering that I have not even tried to partition yet, this really is frustating. I would have backed up my important files prior to partitioning.

Can anyone even tell me what bootup file has been changed to cause this and how I can change it back?

Please help soonest. I sent and Email to tech support on the 30th of September and have still heard nothing.

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Management Software.

You will need to repair your MBR in order to remove the OS Selector record from it. Here are two possible variants for your case:

1)
Please insert a diskette into the floppy drive and run the file available by the link below:

http://www.acronis.com/files/support/mbrautowrite_en.exe

Once the floppy is written, boot the computer from it and confirm that you want to fix the master boot record.

You do NOT need to copy this file to diskette. Just launch it from hard disk (or any media) with the diskette inserted.

Please use the following ISO image to create a special CD:
