I'm just learning how to secure my computer.  I see in the Wilders downloads a program called HTAstop.  It's suppose to protect against vulnerabilities in Microsoft's HTA.  Could someone explain HTA-what it is, what it does/allows.  Also, explain how HTAstop protects against this.  I read the developer's summary of the program, but I am still just a little bit confused.

    Hi Gnostic,

There's a fine explanation available from PSC:

    www.nsclean.com/htastop.html

Since this isn't exactly a privacy issue, I hope you don't mind me moving this thread to a more appropriate forum.

    regards.

Paul, I still a little dense on this subject.  Could you or someone give me a simple explanation?

Gnostic - I tried a simple search (using Google from my Opera browser) , using 'HTA exploits' as the search term (without the quotes) and got hits to a number of articles that explain it pretty well. There are too many to go thru here, but by the time you finish reading them, you'll have a pretty good grasp of the subject. Pete
