Nice posts, FanJ. I'd go if Syd was playing (the last thing I found on the web he's doing okay after years of mental illness), I don't really care for the post-Syd stuff.

One note on the Live8 concert where Pink Floyd and others will perform on July 2,

Bob Geldof, the organizer is very upset at eBay, calling it an "electronic pimp" -- after pairs of tickets for the upcoming London event have been listed for as much as 10 million pounds ($18 million).

Tickets for the July 2nd Hyde Park show -- featuring performances by U2, Paul McCartney, Sting, Madonna and Coldplay, as well as a one-off reunion by Pink Floyd -- were given away for free to the winners of a cell-phone text lottery.

Legal or not, it is a disgusting display of greed on whoever is involved IMHO.

One of the greatest bands ever. Very good song writers also.
You don't just listen to their music, you go on a journey.

It's a real shame that it is only a one off and that the Floyd will not be getting back together. Roger Walters is currently in the studio recording a solo album. Now I'm waiting to see if Asia will tour the UK after the US. With half of YES in there should be good. (Squire, Howe and White)

Meddle is still one of my favourite Pink Floyd albums.

It's killer Floyd from start to finish, especially, Echoes.

With a little luck, things will click at the Live8 and Pink Floyd(with Roger) will play a few other venues in the future. ;) :D

That is great news for us here in Toronto and as said in that link, the Rolling Stones will be in town practicing for their upcoming tour so it is logical to think Mick and the boys will be the headliner as they were a few years back at the Sars benefit concert.

Robert Plant will also be in town for his concert around that time and rumour has it today maybe, just maybe, he will also participate.

We can only hope. Location will be announced next week.

I think it's a great initiative from a very engaged person...again this personality was "before my time" but still...

Groups like U2, Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones....look at the time of today and there are no such groups anymore ...

Looks like the Toronto Edition of Live8 is shaping up nicely,

    African Guitar Summit
    Barenaked Ladies
    Blue Rodeo
    Bruce Cockburn
    Bryan Adams
    The Bachman Cummings Band
    Deep Purple
    DobaCaracol featuring Kna'an
    Gordon Lightfoot
    Great Big Sea
    Jann Arden
    Les Trois Accords
    Motley Crue
    Our Lady Peace
    Sam Roberts
    Simple Plan
    Tegan & Sara
    The Tragically Hip
    Tom Cochrane

I would presumme that the Bachman Cummings band(Randy Bachman-Burton Cummings) will be a combination BTO, Guess Who compilation.

More acts to follow. ;) :D

Yes, and so can this guy,

    http://toronto.cbc.ca/regional/servlet/View?filename=to-concert20050628

Good for Neil to find it in his heart to participate so soon after the death of his father, Scott.... and also himself suffering a brain aneurysm in April.

One of the greatest talents to come out of Canada.

Hope everyone enjoys watching this event where ever u are in this world. :)
