Just saw that both Pidgin and the OTR plugin for it were updated about a week ago:

    http://pidgin.im/

    https://otr.cypherpunks.ca/

Both were long overdue IMO, addressing flaws in OpenSSL, among other things. I made it a point to stop using it until it was addressed, and well now it is.

Pidgin seems to support good amount of protocols, but what would be the safer option among them?

Yeah thanks. I had a dated version of HTTPS-Everywhere.
