I am doing some research related to physical security for a client. They are looking at using Cisco's video surviellance and possibly an access gateway. I am trying to find a source of info (forums or whatever) where I can get some independant opinions on the cisco suite of products related to physical securiy. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Hello,

    I assume you're talking UNIX-based OS here?

    General issues:

    Password-protect bios.
    Password-protect GRUB.
Change default boot time for GRUB stanza to 1 sec.
    Password protect all accounts.
Disable guest accounts and blank passwords.
Use Pluggable Authentication Modules with default deny 'other.'
Use Pluggable Authentication Modules to disable non-root access to devices like floppy or CD-ROM to prevent installation of thingies.
    Disable auto-mounting of removable drives.
Use auditing tool (like tripwire) to monitor system directories.
Create a hidden partition mountable only by root containing system image.
