A couple of years ago I purchased a copy of PhantOm's rules, and at the time they served me well. When I updated to LNS 2.07 I was going to buy a new license for the rules, when I got a nasty surprise.

McAfee's Site Advisor indicates that mntolympus.org is a dangerous site. o_O
I sent email addressed to the web master, but my provider returned it as undeliverable.

So now I am in a quandry regarding LNS as well, as I could not get any response to an attempted contact with Frederic either.

Can anyone shine a light on this?

    Hi Laszlo,

The reason for the red flagging is basically from them finding two downloads that are / was hosted at MntOlympus which happens to be my old projects that they are red flagging.

The two files Installer.exe and webFlash-Control.zip are being flagged by the mere use of a runtime packer that is commonly found to be used for packing malware runtimes. However, just because something is commonly seen being used for bad purposes doesn’t make it bad. You wouldn’t consider a vehicle a bad thing, it just something that can be dangerous depending on how we are operating them.

Installer.exe - is the installation file for the ImmunizeNOW! product that I created, that sets immunities in Internet Explorer to prevent infections (like a product that’s still being maintained on here at wilders). The product only needed to be running long enough to apply the immunities to Internet Explorer and then you can close out of it (and yes, it does leave the memory). All the changes made to ones system is detailed here - http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/mntolympus.org/downloads/8976170/

webFlash-Control.zip - inside the archive is a tiny utility that simply toggles with the Flash viewing on web-pages, no installation even done. http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/mntolympus.org/downloads/12316069/

All this McAfee SiteAdvisor is basically about is to be scaring people into becoming paying customers of their products.

    Happy New Year,
    Best Regards,
    Phant0m``

Ha ha ha, this mcFee thingie is a real crazy carpet! Never used it and never will! Jeez I don't need this corp to guide me on the web and brought me by hand to where I should go or not there!
This one is a real nut and the situation here with MontOlympus site is just another indication of how misleading this kind of tool could be... IMO

    Hi PhantOm

Thanks for the reply, it clears things up for me. You still have a problem though, as Site Advisor with all it's faults is a popular add-in, and used by a large segment.

Perhaps you ought to consider having them clear your site, as being red flagged is not
the best recommendation for a security related web page. Surely it's bound to hurt business.

    Best regards
    Laszlo

    Good news folks,

Update on the issue of McAfee SiteAdvisor falsely red flagging my domain.

With a some determination and time spent, SiteAdvisor sent me a e-mail almost an hour ago saying the SiteAdvisor senior engineers have cleared this domain for a green Web safety rating switch. It was stated it’ll be approximately two weeks for the data to propagate their system.

Phant0m - Sent you a PM on question regarding your ruleset.

Also, your installer is detected by Emsisoft as a virus (Virus.Win32.Heur!IK). I sent them a false positive report. If you check the installer with VirusTotal online scan it is detected by 7 of the 43 scanners as malware. One of them is McAfee. You may want to check into this. -http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan/report.html?id=7b2ca930fb0acb04ac3be4c9be5dd9702789e28551d083045f38bcdfbbd8dd91-1299183993-

It’s a false positive, if it wasn’t you would hear so much on this.
