    Hi,

After installing PG3 I am unable to remotely connect to my desktop machine from my laptop.

In reviewing the PG3 log I think this is the culprit:

    Sat 25 - 20:38:50 [DRIVER/SERVICE] \system32\smss.exe [440] Tried to install a driver/service named \SystemRoot\System32\win32k.sys
    Sat 25 - 20:38:58 [DRIVER/SERVICE] \system32\smss.exe [440] Tried to install a driver/service named \SystemRoot\System32\win32k.sys
    Sat 25 - 20:39:31 [DRIVER/SERVICE] \system32\smss.exe [440] Tried to install a driver/service named \SystemRoot\System32\win32k.sys
    Sat 25 - 20:39:36 [DRIVER/SERVICE] \system32\smss.exe [440] Tried to install a driver/service named \SystemRoot\System32\win32k.sys

I clicked on allow driver/service but nothing happened. I tried adding win32k.sys to the protection list but that did not correct the problem. I discovered by unchecking Block Driver/Root Kit/Service Installation I can connect to my desktop without a problem. SMSS.EXE settings are set to the PG defaults.

What do I need to do to get this working?

    Thanks,

    Rick

Hi Rick, I run both PG2 & PG3 on three computers on my network and have never been stopped from seeing the network from any of my machines, so this is strange to me.
SMSS.ex has Install drivers/services & Access physical Memory on my pc's

Windows XP Pro SP2 - Shows my version of win32k.sys as 1,835,904 bytes in size and created date of 2nd May 2004.

    Hi Pilli,

That is strange! My version of win32k.sys is 1793kb with a creation date of 8/23/2001 at 7am and last modified 8/3/2004. I also checked my laptop and the information is the same.

smss.exe has install drivers and access physical memory.

    Pilli,

I sent Jason a note about this problem. Here is his response:

Thanks, the ProcessGuard driver simply wasn't mapping \\System32\\ back to
it's correct address (c:\windows\system32\) this will be fixed in the next
    beta.

For anyone else who reports a similar problem.
