Starting a download PG blocks it and a pop-up window asks for the name
of the file to be protected:a file that does not exist yet?
    Disabling PG does not help.
How to prevent that PG interferes with downloads?
    Thanks

    Hi bolleke3,
This is the first time that anyone has reported such a problem. Anyway if IE is on your list it should have all the "Allows" enabled as IE is pretty well embedded into the windows core.
If that does not work, remove IE from the list, if it still does not work ensure that your IE security settings are not set too high thus preventing downloads.

One more thing are you using a third party downloader for downloads? As this may also be a contributing factor.

    Thanks for your reply,Pilli.
I do not use IE but Opera 7.23 with built-in download facility.
Also already tried shutting down ZAPro before downloading;no help.
Is there a way to disable PG for a short time or is it always active?

As I usually do,I open my browser Opera 7.23,go to a website where
I want to download a file, click on it and normally speaking I can see
the download coming in,make my choice where to save it,etc:the
usual procedure for everybody I suppose.
    Since a couple of days,when I start a download,PG intervenes a coup-
le of seconds after the download has started, stops the download and
asks to indicate the file to be protected.Disabling PG is of no help
aince even disabled it starts this procedure.
Pilli asked me to remove IE fm the list what I did;no change!
    Should I uninstall PG?

    i think what i don't understand is this :
PG can prevent a program to be terminated or a window to be closed, but i have never seen PG asking which file i want to protect.

Do you mean that PG shows you the browse dialog as if you would have click on "add file to protect" ?
I see nothing on your screenshot other than PG disabled (sorry if i'm blind ;))

oh so the story is :

you click on a download link
you choose where to save your file
    the download starts
    the download shutdown itself
    PG popups

    is that right ?

    Not exactly,gkweb!
    -click on download link
    -download visibly starts
-after a second or so,the PG popup-window appears on top of
    downloadpage and stops the download
-no time to save since even that usual window to save does not
    appear

    Strange thing!
Opened latest (beta) version of browser OPERA (7.5) and no problem
to download and no pop-up window fm PG that I uninstalled comple-
tely but still prevents me fm downloading with Opera 7.23.
Any idea for what I should look for in the browser files that has to
be deleted to get rid of that nasty PG-thing?
    Thanks!

Look in your registry for this key & delete it:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "ProcGuard_Startup"="\"C:\\Program Files\\ProcessGuard\\procguard.exe\" -minimize"

PG shoould not effect your browser down loads, If you are having a problem with one version of Opera & not another then I would guess that it is an Opera problem not PG - Try the Opera forum as it may be a kown problem with that version :)

    Thanks for your advise,Pilli.
Still asking myself what this problem has to do with my browser (one of
them, used when PG was installed). Is it a plugin or something like that?
Asking this question before reinstalling PG and risking to have the same
problems with other browsers than Opera 7.23.

all that i can say is that i use Internet Explorer and Mozilla FireBird as browser and there is no pbs at all.

the fact that you have a pb with one opera version and not with another seems to show that it is more related to opera than to PG.

And as suggested by Pilli, you can install PG but not starting the GUI at startup (the protection is still enabled) and see what happens.

    Hi bolleke3

Yes you do need it :)

procguard.exe is the user interface between you and procguard.sys driver.

But once you have set your list in it and enabled ptotection it does not need to be running.

Just a quick note. I have tested Process Guard (all versions) on Opera 6.x , 7.0 and the very latest version as of Thursday with Process Guard and have not noticed any problems.

    Still cannot understand it!
I uninstalled PG completely,so,why is that part of PG still there and
could it be the reason of that popup-window when I want to down-
    load something?
Have found some reading about Proguard beeing spyware but nothing
about Procguard.exe;could it still be a suspicious file?TDS,Nod32
    en Ad-aware found nothing.
    Thank you
