    Hi,

I would bet that Nick from SAS would not even dare to concur this statement. IMO, SAS is the better one compared to the crowd.

And BTW, pest patrol is just among those big crowd/pool, not very noticeable at all.

The only thing I remember about PestPatrol were the false positives :cautious:

yep that's my memory as well.
PestPatrol went from average to below average after CA purchased it a few years ago.

PestPatrol seems rather dead to me. I wonder who is buying it.

I didn't even know PestPatrol was still around.
From what I remember it had a lot of FP's, but that was a long time ago.

I don't know of any study/test that can objectively answer your question, but as an ESS user (NOD32 AV), I too explored the need to complement it with AS in the following thread:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=200831

I wound up installing and using Counterspy. It is light on resources and seems to do a good job, so I would give it a :thumb:

I like SUPERAntiSpywareand Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (ATM on-demand). Both licenses are lifetime and I like to support great products even I can use them for free.

Yup, CounterSpy the best and so is SUPERAntispyware. Both are good.

The new version of CounterSpy which is on Beta freezed my system. What a let down; but overall they are still good at what they good with...

My experience in the past regarding Pest Patrol : too many false/positives. It wouldn't be my first choice.

Neither did I. The website appears to have references to the program that are dated from several years ago. Also, the CA website does not have program listed there.

The pest patrol page is dated from 2006 and it lists that it still supports Windows 98. It also points to another page with CA Antispyware 2007. If you go to the CA.COM site, the most current version is Antispyware 2008 and it only supports Windows 2000 forward. Somebody in CA needs to do some housework.

I got the combination of Spyware Blaster 4.0 and Spyware Terminator for awhile now and they seem to be doing just fine. Now for the Firewall/Anti-Virus, i got Kaspersky AV 7.0 which is probably the best i've noticed for awhile now. :)
