On my desktop computer I write documents that I don't want hackers to get their hands on. The documents are password protected and stored on an external harddrive. I turn the external harddrive out from the computer while I go online.
Is this good enough protection of my documents?

you might want to encrypt the files as an extra measure.

It also never hurts to encrypt some of those files (especially more sensitive ones). Give AxCrypt (free, light-weight, strong encryption, accessible from context menu) a try.
