Well, certain tests in my country (products tested: Pepsi, coke, Mirinda, Fanta, 7up, Mountain Dew etc.) said that these products contained some substances which are usually used in the making of pesticides. This set up Pepsi and Coca-Cola to put up public campaigns etc.

However, it was interesting to note that when the same test was done at a different lab the results were positive for both companies. Possible bribery might be involved...

Personally I drink Milk and Tea and its nice enough for me...Sometimes I drink Mirinda or the Vanilla Coke.

My brother is addicted to Pepsi and Mirinda and the normal Coke.

    Just my 2 cents.

You're Right Marja ... Salt is another Killer ... The only way to really avoid it ... is to avoid everything pre-packaged/pre-made - it's the super preservative ... Boxed, Canned, and Frozen too ... You'll have a laugh if you read the mg of Salt in say for example Canned Mushrooms ... or better yet Check any can of Soup (on average they ave. about 2000mg - So Sodium Reduced Broth {25% less by definition} still has 1500mg of Salt ~Slightly too Much~ (It's the sole reason why one should consume Soup when their ill with a cold or flu ... cause the high salt content is need in this condition to remain hydrated). But I regress ... :p

We don't eat anything pre-made/pre-packaged ... It's all made from scratch with love, care and a little thought & effort. We consumed less than 1000mg a day ... and no more than 200mg in any sitting ... eating 4-5 times a day. And it's not that we're that @n@l, and measure everything out, it's just from knowledge gained/researched over the years, you get to the point where the account becomes second nature.

Marja & Nat - It's nice to see/meet/know others that are concerned with the same things. :)

I use to drink a little coke when I Was younger but then I started drinking pepsi and I though pepsi was a lot nicer. Now that I drink pepsi, if I try and drink coke it tastes horrible.

This thread reminds me of a program I watched to do with Coke and Pepsi in the United States, the majority believed that Coke was better than Pepsi, but some people did a tast test without telling them which was which and asked their opinion. Pepsi won almost every time.

    Neither! I'm a waterboy! Also, I drink cordial. :D

    Davo.

By the way, I used to drink coke, however it caused me some health problems, so I decided not to drink it anymore. But if I had to choose, I would say Pepsi MAX. :p

Brand names?? Sorry, all those millions of dollars in ads are wasted on me -- I generally get whatever's cheapest, usually house-brand or no-name. And usually (around here, anyway) no-name is from Coke or Pepsi, just doesn't have the advertising expenses or the fancy logos.

And since both side-subjects popped up here somewhere along the line, I'll plead guilty to being totally (and quite cheerfully) addicted to coffee and smokes.
