:D yeah your right now that i think about it i bet you an ms agent its xp and his configuration

he actualy might have problems with sevral aspects

first thing if your runing xp is xp fire wall disable

second if your runing aol 9.0 broad band cable ect is aol fire wall disable

and most importantly do you have the needed files to run port explorer

jooskey isnt there a certin .dll file you need to run port explorer

i remember my system didnt have like i think 2 certin files and i couldnt get pe to work at all

till i read the manual and got a little help

could be you were runing 3 fire walls lol

new aol 9.0 security really messes with your present security software

Its not AOL, its MCAfee firewall. In the realm of firewalls MCAfee isn't near the top of the pile, either in price/features/stability/speed .

I would ax AOL and McAfee. In my personal opinion, AOL is not good and with regards to firewalls I've had great success with Zone Lab's Zone Alarm 4 Pro. If you don't want to pay for a firewall, then I would suggest the free version of Zone Alarm 4. This may not be the solution to your problem, but it's definately a step in the right direction.

Thanks Dallen, there are many people with ZA or ZAPro together with PE with great success fortunately.
Generally spoken i don't like any kind of software messing up my system unexpectedly.
Hope the problem is solved in the meantime here?

It's rather unfortunate no mcafee fw user came with configuration or other solutions to work fine together with PE. Would really love to help other users out of their problems with that.
For AOL, think there are more users with that and PE without problems, hope the 9 version didn't bring them into trouble?
Hope people will post about that if so and how it was solved in case.

    thx for input guys :)

i havent been ere as much as i would like,as i now have BTYahoo and they are giving me as many headaches as AOL did,but i have same PE problem so i agree it Mcafee causing conflict, however for the moment,as i have come to learn/uderstand my Mcafee, and my hardware firewall not fully functioning as designed due to incompatibility probs with BTYahoo s/w, i am going to keep it just a bit longer than anticipated while sorting a few other system probs out
    Thx again for advice/input/ideas

p.s rest assured i will get to enjoy that piece of software yet lol

    regards and best wishes

I am guessing jooske is wanting you to run the LSP fix because PE uses
a couple LSP's and if I remember correct there is or was a conflict with
Sygate because one programs LSP tried to put itself on a higher level then the other making internet connection not possiable.
As I have mentioned in the past, Mc afee has been known to control your system files so maybe Mc Afee has put it's LSP at a higher level then PE also.

So i don't know if AOL's LSP is causing this or what. i don't know much about what AOL does to it's customers. lol

Hi Controler, It was NOD32 not Sygate & you are correct in stating that McaFee firewall is not PE compatible :)

Sygate only --on several systems-- needs to be installed after PE; one might be lucky not to need to uninstall sygate or that things can be put right with the LSPfix.
It was in one of Jasons first postings in this forum.

Woops! Must have missed that, I stand corrected :)
Fortunately I have never had a problem with PE, Sygate and XP Pro
