I see someone asking about this app in another forum and remembered there was some discussion here quite sometime ago about how this program works. i understand it is data based and that one does not have to make decisions to allow or disallow and if something is suspicious you submit it to the site for validation and get a reply back as to whether it is good or bad.

i see that this app has there own forum but not much activity in it and that the site seems to say if the program is causing problems to deactivate your firewall and only use their software o_O

Is this a valid appo_O? seems odd to me that one would disable their firewall although it is said also that the average user does not know what to allow and not allow. Just like another poster, I had the query to allow "schost.exe" as well and of course did not know what it was.
This PC Internet Patrol seems to play on this lack of knowledge by the general user of what is safe to allow when the question is posed and their program does not require the user to answer, their program does it for youo_O

I would like comments from anyone, i see that the discussion on this product was quite sometime ago in this forum.

    I look forward to comments.

    Thankyou

    I

As much as I like pcIP , if they say to disable your current firewall and only use theirs if they do not get along is just bad business . I have dealt with these guys since it's inception . It is legitimate . And very good at what it does . I can tell you that it plays nicely with most other firewalls . One person said it screwed up Armor2net firewall on a friend's machine . I am suspicious of this as I have used Armor2net side by side with pcIP and never had a problem . To answer you question , it is legitimate and very good . Even protects aginst rootkits , trojans , worms , etc ....
    Hope that helps

Thx for the comment, have seen in other forums that this program has some conflicts with spysweeper and that this can cause the computer to quit functioning.

    Any commentso_O

    Thankyou

    Wouldn't YOU like to know?
    That person was me :)

I used the offline installer, not the small online one [that may be to blame].
Give it a whirl... who knows? It may be worth it!

This is one reason I quit using NIS and ZA.... Automatic rule creation. Not for me.

You have that right as details are important, my buddy just turfed pc internet patrol for the same reason.....lack of explanation in detail.

He encountered vagueness from their support and issues with spysweeper, so he dumped the program due to computer problems and frustratingly as he believed in the concept.
But support was so vague and for the price paid, he considered it a desperate developer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But he, like me prefers to look at new concepts in apps and we don't like the questions and rules by the regular firewalls.

Someday, someone will look at why we answer these questions of "allow" and set "rules" when many of us only use the computer as a tool for work and many of the purchase software companies make a lot of $ with little or no guidance for their firewall products.

And free ones are not any better.

    I've tried them all.

I think it is wonderful if all users feel so competent that they can "honestly" say to themselves that they Know that they did not Allow in anything malicious by their decison. :ninja: :D

Look forward to responses regarding pc internet patrol in respect of my prior comments and NOT firewalls.

    Thankyou

    Wills .
I do not know that this will be better but , their brand new release , due out soon , will give you more control . My understanding is , you can actually go in and allow things to run or block things as you wish . Kinda like with SS . You may be able to go in and MAKE pcIP get along . That is my understanding anyway . Only time will tell . Wish I could be of more help
