I have been using the weather indicator from the SC for some time.I have the forecast bug as many people have.I found a patch for it on the ubuntu page.I have 2 questions.Is it safe to apply this patch and how am I going to apply the patch? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/ source/indicator-weather/ bug/1048193
Looks like you can download the tar.gz from the launchpad site. I imagine you'll have to make and install the file manually, but I didn't look at the downloadable to be certain. Is it safe? You can inspect the code yourself and determine that- that's the beauty of open source. However... if you don't have the skills necessary to do such an inspection (as I don't), then you're at the mercy of others reviewing it for you. Are there no other alternatives to replace it rather than patch it? I would be inclined to go that route myself.
