Hello. I'm attempting to merge a two pairs of partitions into each other using version 10 of Disk Director, using the windows-reboot method, and while everything seemed to set up fine, now that I have restarted my desktop, I get nothing but a black (blank, no signal) screen. Here is what I'm attempting to do:

Disk 1: 80gb PATA, one partition (C) with Windows XP...untouched (hopefully)
    Disk 2: 300gb PATA, six partitions (D E F H I K.) Operation 1: Merge I (60gb) with H (60gb) to create one partition. Operation 2: Merge E (45gb) with D (45gb) to create one partition.
DVD Burners as disks 3 and 4 (G and J)

So after setting everything up and rebooting, all I have now is a screen-less computer. My USB keyboard is on but does not respond to caps-lock, num-lock, scroll-lock changes. It is as if there is no signal going to the monitor (DVI-based Dell LCD from a Nvidia Geforce 7950GX2 graphics card.)

The killer part is that there seems to be one major disk-operation going on, but without the screen that I figure I am supposed to be seeing now. This is where I am reluctant to reset my computer or try other standard recovery options, because I am hoping that the operation is underway and that it will reset the computer back to regular windows once complete. The hard drive access light has switched between a pulsing glow to a constant glow, back to pulsing and then constant again, and now is pulsing again. Unfortunately, I realize that all is probably not well, which is why I'm asking if anybody has had a similar situation, or if the process is automated enough so that even if the video is somehow not loading for some odd reason, the operation is still going on.

At this posting time, the operation has been going on for about an hour and a half.

My full system specs are thus:
    Asus A8N-Sli Premium Motherboard
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
    2GB (1024mb x 2) OCZ value-series PC-3200 DDR Ram
EVGA nvidia Geforce 7950GX2 dual-board graphics card
24" Dell LCD monitor (fed through DVI from graphics card)
80GB Western Digital PATA Hard Drive
300GB Western Digital PATA Hard Drive

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

(damn, and I was hoping that the system would've rebooted by the time I was done writing this!)

Well, oddly enough, everything turned out okay. I had left my monitor and speakers on when I called watching the HDD access light quits at midnight, and half an hour later, I was greeted by the bright glow of my monitor as it displayed my desktop.

So is this some kind of bug?

I'm glad it turned out okay. I know that some partition operations can take a while, especially if the program has to move large amounts of data. It would have been nice to have been able to follow the progress though.

Have you tried the rescue cd? Since the Windows version must reboot into linux mode to do the operations, I'm curious if the rescue cd works for you. In other works, does the keyboard, mouse and screen work correcty when booted from the rescue cd?
