I have Win7 x64 Ultimate and installed the 2010 free edition to enlarge a 320 gb logical partition (which was 150GB used) to 430 GB using unallocated space to the left of the partition and I found the process extremely slow. Machine is a dual core 2Ghz machine with 4GB of RAM and so far it has taken 42 mins and it is only 1/3 of the way there.

It is moving the entire 150gb of data all the way left to the start of the new partition you are making.

If it goes at 1-1.5 gb min, that's not bad.

If you extend a partition to the right - there is no need to move data - so that would be very fast.

It took 2 hours to expand the partition using the default options. The 320GB size is actually the new size of the partition in question so it was 220GB originally.
