What's this like? 74 mb download, wow!

I've been trying Puran Defrag and it seems to making quite a difference to boot-up and general use.

Good stuff. And anyone know how does this rate compared to other defrag programs?

Thanks, but for some reasons, it won't defrag my C: partition on Windows XP Pro. It says it needs to restart the computer in order to access C: after which nothing seems to happen.

  11. seems awfully large for a defragger compared to all the main players, Perfect Disk, DisKeeper, etc. Anybody have any clue why?

You need to boot through the included ISO in order to defragment your system partition. Total Defrag cannot do system partition while it is online.

Thanks Raza0007, as a matter of fact it worked with the CD except it took almost 2 hours to defragment my C: partition(which was slightly fragmented). I prefer MyDefrag on this machine.

It is maybe more efficient on Vista and Win7, but I have UltimateDefrag for my Vista machine.

On VIsta 32, I can defrag my D drive, but C drive requires a reboot, which is fine, but after a reboot, I see my logon screen and nothing happens.

Tried it a number of times. Can't seem to find out why the boot screen isn't loading. I've disabled DefenseWall, and other software, so nothing else should be running except OS.

Exactly what happened to me on XP Pro, and I have only Avira running (my D partition was however defragged). As I mentioned on my previous post and advised by Raza0007, it will defrag C: with the ISO CD. Not only it took ages to defrag C:, but my boot time was longer and the typical opening sound announcing the viewing of the desktop lost its synchronization.

Now I will add (and I don't know whether Total Defrag 2010 was responsible) that my computer twice shut down inexplicably after the defragmentation within the next 24 hours. As usual I don't ask why for more than 30 seconds, and 5 minutes later my system was restored with the latest image.

So you think it's best to stick to mydefrag? I used the monthly option, and system seemed quite responsive. Can't complain for a free version.

Just checking, do you recommend defragging the MFT in the paragon software? Does it make a difference?

Saraceno, if you have a good feeling (sometimes it is like driving your own car, you know when it feels normal, but sometimes there might be something intangible about it) I'd keep it. I definitely felt it was not playing well with my machine.
I didn't defrag the MFT as I already was a bit wary about the defragger, hopefully somebody competent will answer your question.

Well, no matter what I did, boot into safe mode, insert the bootable cd, not insert it, wouldn't defrag the c drive.

Well Puran is definitely easy to use, and does the job. I might try O&O defrag, although the cost is three times the others. Lets see if that means three times the performance. ;)

You used the following? Noticed softpedia lists a 30 day trial.
