I had problems getting ATI 9 to see my external Disk (Maxtor). Wrote to Acronis and they sent me some drivers to installl and that cured the problem.

Have not tried booting off a Paragon recovery disk so don't know if that is the same.

As I read these postings, I am not sure that all are referencing the same item. Listed below is a couple extracts from their support site.

Difference between 'Recovery Media and Recovery CD'

the difference between Recovery Media Builder and full version of Recovery CD that comes as self burning ISO image is:
1)RMB is a simple bootable media based on DOS and has no network or usb support. It is designed for simple configurations (no raid, no network, no external HDD).
2)Recovery CD is a ready to use tool based on two environments: Linux and PTS-DOS as safe mode. It contains network configurator, Boot Corrector, Files Transfer Wizard etc. One should first configure his or her network in RCD so to gain access to his image located on network share.

In Windows mode you can restore only non system partitions that requires no reboot. In case you are restoring C: partition then the Windows will ask for reboot and network connection will be lost.

A: To create Recovery CD one should follow these steps:
1. Download a self-burning archive with an image of Recovery CD from update page for the product
2. Burn the image to the media. Recovery CD image is distributed as a self-burning executable, therefore there is no need in any auxiliary utilities.

Please note: Update section is available only for users who possess full commercial version of the product. Trial and demo versions usually don't have Recovery CD as a unit. If you use special cover mount version of the product from computer magazine, please contact publisher with all the questions about Recovery CD."

You will have to register your copy of whatever Paragon product you "got free" in order to download the program to create a bootable recovery disk.

Once registered, if what you have is a full commercial version of your unstated product, log in and click on Updates in the left hand column of your screen.
