Paragon Backup - Recovery freezes.

I have just installed Paragon Hard Drive disk manager on my Windows Vista sp2 machine,I created a backup c.d to test it out and found that when it boots from the c.d I get the Paragon option menu o.k but if I select an option it then freezes the system.
I would appreciate your help as to what might be wrong, are there any updates that are required for vista for this product or configuration set up in the product,I have vista service pack 2 install.
I have launched Paragon Hard drive manager ok from a normal boot and can select the options no problem.
I have just tested again to find it will boot up ok in safety mode but not normal mode is this normal for vista?
