Seagate USB hard disk unusable after using Paragon alignment tool 2.0. The drive is blank as far as I can tell. Is there any way to get my data off this drive?

    Thanks

Not if it is blank. How did you determine that?

If it is not blank, you could try recovering a partition table and lost files with:

Parted Magic (The best boot CD. Includes data recovery to CD/DVD, network, or USB, Testdisk for partition recovery, audio tests, web browser, and much more)
    Testdisk (for Windows)
    Testdisk Boot Floppy Image
    Testdisk on Live CD

Well I plugged it in and it said it was empty. Its a 250 gig drive with 250 gig free. This really bugs me as I did not think I would have to use my old fried ghost to get a Image to use this tool. Learned a hard leason today. Anyway I have not used any tools against it. I was afraid to make it wose.

I had the same issue with this program. This program is horrible and buggy. I recommend using easeus recovery wizard to recover the data. This is what I used to recover some of the data I lost.

Well Easues recovery mamager is running and it says it found 53 thousand files and 15 fat folder parts.
So I guess I need to buy the product?
Is there other ways to get stuff back?

Sorry about that. I forgot the free edition only recovers up to 1gb. You can try Recuva, from Piriform. Its free and see if it can help recover the files.

Comment not related to the recovery.

According to what I read in Seagate websites some months ago, it is not necessary to align their AFD disks. Any alignment-related problems, it they exist, are taken care of by the disk firmware. The situation is different in Western Digital disks.
