This will be very interesting I think.
Since I have seen that many users have requested a Cloud-based firewall on the Panda forum. :thumb:

Whats going to change in the free version compared to the 'PRO'?

Yes it has "some" of the improvements we're making to both I/O and performance. But there's still a lot more coming.

Re: features of free vs pro, this is not changing in the short term. This is a beta to test the firewall interception only. It has all the features of the pro (behavioural analysis, vaccination) but that's just for testing purposes, has nothing to do with the official street versions.

Keep in mind that this is the first of a few beta versions to prepare for version 2.0 (hence the 1.9x numbering).

There's a separate and parallel dev track for the 1.x versions, with a release of 1.5 coming up in the short term.

Just downloaded. Will give it a try. Should be a good compliment to AppGuard.

Would this Cloud Based Firewall be something like Norton's SONAR and Smart Firewall?

    I think so ...

Will the firewall be available in the free version? :)

Why is everything becoming more and more like suites these days? I hope you can custom install without the firewall.

    I haven't seen an option ... :doubt:

I hope they will continue version 1.5 (without firewall) as well :)

Its not. And Panda Antivirus Pro has a firewall (same with Mcafee). It will be a basic firewall, I presume, as pbust said they had a plan. Which means the firewall in the free version won't be complete with some things. You following? ;)

Custom install will most likely be implemented due to user feedback.

Remember that this is a beta for testing network interception for the 2.0 version. It's not representative of what the final street product will or will not have.

Version 1.5 will not have a firewall (neither Free nor Pro Editions)
Version 2.0 Free Edition will not have a firewall (only for PRO).

Mmm...I see. It seems pbust & crew decided to make a decision on this. Awesome! :D If PRO will have a firewall,...will anything "exciting" be saved for Free?

Yes probably a couple of things will be added to the Free Edition as well, but it's too early to disclose any of them as for now it's just plans.

@pbust: are you guys planning on keeping your Panda AV/IS/GP product lines going? It seems like there's tons more development momentum and enticing features being added to Cloud AV vs AV/IS/GPP.

Wow. I am curious how things will work out as both products develop enticing new features. :D
