You at Panda are have that much confidence about the quality that you skip the public beta phase and directly announce the release client? I think I will wait for the final to test it out again, too avoid hassle with uninstalling/reinstalling, which won't take very long I guess. Since the 1.9 beta ofcourse has some overlap with the 1.5 development.

Next step: integrate the URL filtering in the client.

We haven't skipped it, like the announcement says it has been in private beta for some time and now we're opening to public beta before release.

My fault, I though you have written release client instead of release candidate.

Can this be installed over the top of 1.4, or should I uninstall 1.4 first?

Please add another button: "I detest security apps that kowtow to Facebook."

How about an option in the advanced settings for paid users which removes all types of buttons and banners? There is no reason for promoting your product to users who already paid, because they are most likely Panda fans because otherwise they would use the free version.

You can install on top of 1.4. The installer will uninstall 1.4, reboot and install 1.5.

Actually as of some time ago the paid users don't get any banners. Same applies to 1.5. Regarding the "send to friends" over email, twitter and fb, we do want all people regardless of whether they are free or paid to use it. It's precisely the fans who will most likely use it. Also it's not only "Facebook", there's other actions there (a testdrive of Panda Cloud Protection for businesses, subscribing to notifications from PCAV blog and news, etc. Finally I don't see anything wrong with it; it's not intrusive and its pretty common, other AVs have the same thing.

I guess, maybe. It is hard not to notice it though. Possibly integrate it into the installer? avast! and AVG may do it, but it just doesn't fit in well. You know? :doubt: Other AVs do it..but its different for them...

I understand, but the point is that we want people to use it, not hide it.

pbust, any chance of a native 64bit version down the road. I was thinking perhaps with 2.0 or is this simply not in your plans?

But how does a like button spread the word? I don't understand. o_O

One way to quickly spread the word, on Wilders, is to convince trjam to change his icon and sig to represent Panda. I am sure that would convince I lot of people. :D

well heres another perspective, if you annoy your users with banners and social media integration that they do not want and do not like, your likely to loose users, or push away new users that dont like that, particularly because there are soo many alternatives on the market; by giving the choice to disable the banner/social media parts (like avast has given users after MANY users complained about it) you make everyone happy. Its a pretty simple solution for both parties.

Actually its funny you mention Avast as an example, as the approach with PCAV 1.5 is very very similar if not even less intrusive than Avast.

    Sending to friends

Hiding banner under PCAV. Even after turning off community settings under Avast it still shows the banner.

It should be faster in 1.5. Have you measured both to see to see what the difference is?

But banner is a upgrade ad, not a social ad. Doesn't count. :p

However, I like the social banner more than that tech support banner. Could we 'trade'? :D

Banners do change over time, both in Panda and Avast.

How about that if the user push the iLike button ONCE it will go away? ;)
Or how many times are the users suppose to click it (every day) or what? :doubt:

I'm not very familiar with Avast, but how do you hide or not show the banner? Under Panda Cloud AV its very simple to do.
