Tried the free version last Thursday, failed shieldsup and pcflank tests. I even increased the settings to max and still the same result

This website's test is not very serious.XP system firewall also can pass the test.

It's a quick way of seeing which ports, if any, are exposed to the outside world. The fact that XP firewall can pass the test does not lessen the importance of checking for open ports. SteveBlanchard said that his test of OP free failed such a simple test and I concur with the post by GiddyUp suggesting that he has a faulty setup as OP most certainly does pass those tests when configured properly.

Wow,agreed. But it just can be used to check stealth ports.

If a third part firewall can't be better than XP firewall. It is defeat.

any known reason why Outpost Firewall sometimes ask for rules when rules are present?
In that case the answer is not set - another second same question.
I have to shut down and restart Outpost (complete).
trigger for that were so far i've seen HLSW and unreal tournament.
"entertainment mode" is complete off - rules are complete so far and i dont
run other active software while gaming. ImproveNet is OFF and aut-creating
    rules same (off).

Do you have Host Protection enabled. That will create pop-ups depending on how you have it set. I have Host Protection set to maximum protection https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1531915&postcount=60 which creates more prompts.

    yep - is active.

unreal has no rules - its permitted at all
host protection (anti leak) is global except keyboard (last item, permitted).
but idd - i need to read again when it popups if hips or firewall is asking.
the message contains a question about the current server i am on.
this happens accidentally - not regular - no clue till now.

erm - forgot - hips is active but the slider is greyed out (max)
webcontrol and anti-spyware is not installed (i use eset av beside safer browsing)
