A recent update to the beta causes Outlook to crash when you close outlook down under Windows Vista.

You get the error message that the program stoped working.

If you start Outlook in safe mode, does it still crash (hold control while clicking on the icon)?

I've also started getting the problem with Outlook crashing during closing but it's on Windows XP (SP2, latest patches etc.).

No Outlook crash here. I am using Vista Home Premium, however, when I open Outlook, receiving new messages takes an inordinate amount of time. This has been the case since installing ESS last month.

I have Outlook on two machines. One is XP Pro and Other is Vista Ultimate. The error was occuring on the XP Pro machine only. Both are running ESS beta.

The only difference in the Outlook setup is that the one that was showing the error was running Outlook in cached exchange mode.

However the problem appears to have stopped since lunchtime today. Maybe one of todays updates has fixed something ?

Outlook 2007 on XP Professional here - no stability problems (although I do have a particularly nasty lag time if the antispam module is enabled upon receipt of new messages - we're talking on the order of ~10 seconds of a frozen Outlook).

Any chance you have another addin of some sort that's causing the problem?

It's not unstable as such but rasther reports a problem when closing and wants to send info to MS.

It still works fine and as far as I know there are no addons.

The problem has gone away. I dont knpow if it was a Microsft issue or Eset issue or both.

One think I did was to turn off the Anti-spam mode. Now that Outlook hasnt crashed on exit for a few days, I the ani-spam back on and I will see what happens.

    Hello,

Can you please report the versions of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Outlook affected if you have not done so? Thank you.

Might as well chime in: XP Pro SP2 with Office '07, and the only Outlook problems I have had with the AS module enabled was a drastic slowdown when scanning incoming messages.

I have not noticed any error reports upon program close (or other instability).

    Hello,

Please upgrade your test system to ESET Smart Security Public Beta 1a and re-test to see if the problem continues to occur.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky
