Does this mean I can now connect my Outlook 2010 to my hotmail and outlook email accounts through IMAP?

So pardon my ignorance but what is "IMAP"?
I'm having problems with "contacts" in Outlook that is a mess.
They need to do some serious work fixing it IMHO>

This is excellent news. I hope this will get rid of the sync errors I have been experiences for the last 3-4 years using outlook 2007 and 2010 with hotmail and even outlook accounts. I hope the above settings also work for hotmail email accounts.

@moontan, where did you get these IMAP settings from? Do you have a weblink?

Thanks, I was wondering what to do after the crappy Outlook.com app failed to receive my messages on Android. Now I can just use the default Email app.

    yes,

it works on Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live.
it's the same server settings for all of them.

i just changed all my accounts to IMAP.

here's a quick guide for those using Thunderbird:

I've been using Windows Live Mail with the Delta sync server setting without problems. Would there be any advantage to using IMAP in WLM?

does the Delta Sync synchronize all the folders, and not just the Inbox like POP does?
    ----
i know little about IMAP and almost nothing about Delta Sync, so maybe someone more knowledgeable can chip in.

Yes, the delta sync server setting syncs all the folders, not just the inbox. AFAICT it is functionally the same as IMAP. The advantage I see of IMAP support at the moment is making it possible to use Outlook (without the Outlook Connector) and other clients that don't support delta sync with hotmail/outlook.com accounts.
