saw this: http://otter-browser.org/ Otter Browser Web browser controlled by the user, not vice-versa Otter Browser, project aiming to recreate classic Opera (12.x) UI using Qt5. downloads: http://sourceforge.net/projects/otter-browser/ would be great if it takes off. im still using Opera 12.16 portable. edit: eh, looks like its only for Linux for now
even if I'm Firefox addicted (configurability and add-ons, you know) I'd very much like to see this going I have been having Chrome inspired nightmares...
Interesting I'll wait & see. Been using Opera since they had a paid version & a free version with a 2-3" header saying FREE version or something. But after being disgusted with New World Opera. I finally have FF tweaked so it's exactly like my old Opera installs.
Nice and all, but what´s the use without the Presto engine? Also, Opera v12 is still alive and kicking, no need for a clone.
eh fwiw, i read from a few sources that claiming Opera 12 has vulnerabilities that aren't being patched now. i dont know what Presto or Webkit means, i just like all the options, easy to add buttons for customization, url filter, etc etc. Opera 12 is by far the best browser ive ever used.
I will try this in a VM, just to see what it does. Opera Presto is still alive and kicking but this looks different enough to be interesting. Just that it exists says there are a lot of us out there that want to keep using Presto Opera.
Have checked it out, cool to see a single process browser, but I believe it's a bit pointless. It doesn't support extensions and the configuration windows are ugly and unhandy, it should be tab-based.

I tried this browser soon after Presto was abandoned and replaced by Chromium in Opera. Unfortunately it was very raw at the time and I dismissed it. Frankly I thought this project is dead so I'm surprised to see it alive. Has it improved? Is it on par now with Opera, FF, Chrome and other mainstream browsers?
I have quickly checked it out via Sandboxie and seems it has been improved a bit when it comes to the GUI mostly. I noticed that the bookmarks and history manager are now tab based. It even has a basic adblocker, but website loading is still quite slow. And there seems to be a problem with webpage zooming. I suppose the only advantage of such a browser would be way less RAM usage, but at the moment it's not a workable browser.
