    Hello,

These are options in the ESS (v. 4.0.437.0) that don't work either entirely or partially, and it's time for ESET to resolve them ..
    hoping that !

    Option No.1:
    http://up4.m5zn.com/9bjndthcm6y53q1w0kvpz47xgs82rf/2009/7/10/09/ta95o21w2.jpg
Although I select this option, nothing happens !
And another thing, what does this option mean?

    Option No.2:
    http://up4.m5zn.com/9bjndthcm6y53q1w0kvpz47xgs82rf/2009/7/10/09/junaxpptm.jpg
I can't see the logged objects that belong to the real-time system protection !

    Option No.3:
    http://up4.m5zn.com/9bjndthcm6y53q1w0kvpz47xgs82rf/2009/7/10/09/7i9w64epk.jpg
If I deselect the 'Smart optimization' option for real-time system protection, eset still doesn't rescan the scanned objects !
See these pictures that evidence that when I access the scanned object, eset doesn't rescan it although I deselect 'Smart optimization' option:

    Option No.4:
    http://up4.m5zn.com/9bjndthcm6y53q1w0kvpz47xgs82rf/2009/7/10/09/w7j4mnbyc.jpg
Although I selected the 'Smart optimazation' option for context menu scan, eset scan the same objects every time I demand that, though they didn't modified ! :

    Option No.5:
    http://up4.m5zn.com/9bjndthcm6y53q1w0kvpz47xgs82rf/2009/7/10/09/y6rrli218.jpg
    This option doesn't work properly ! :

    Option No.6:
    http://up4.m5zn.com/9bjndthcm6y53q1w0kvpz47xgs82rf/2009/7/10/09/5ro0n5b36.jpg
When I apply a context menu scan on more than 8 files, no warning displays !!

    Options No.7 and No.8:

    Thanks in advanced ..

The behavior of this option is adjusted via automatic updates. Curently enabling or disabling it has no effect. (e.g. we might disable displaying the errors related to scanning locked system files in the future via an update).

With this option enabled, if you copy a sfx archive somewhere the files inside the archive will be logged.

It means that the file has been processed, but not actually scanned (the logic behind may change in the future, currently it's intended for troubleshooting purposes when it's necessary to display all processed files).
A file would not be scanned again unless the program has been updated or the file has been modified in the mean time. Smart optimization has nothing to do with that, however. The caching is enabled by default and cannot be disabled (only in v3).

Of course, Smart optimization has nothing to do with the caching. The on-demand scanner always scans all files regardless of whether they had already been scanned before.

Works perfectly here with ESS 4.0.437.

    We'll check that out.

That's expected as you cannot select targets for context-menu scans. Even if you select email files in the TS setup and do not select any email files and run a scan from the context menu, email files that you might have on the disk will not be scanned as they haven't been selected for scanning.
