I always though Symantec had a lot more market share than that, and i never though ESET had so much

I would have thought McAfee would have been a little bit higher. They are used a lot in academic and corporate environments.

In contrary, they had a huge win. They doubled in half a year. That's stunning indeed.

No more ESET Smart Security in your signature?

Yes, I made the same fault on first sight. It would have been more logical if they turned around the graph, so it would be in correct order of time.

-ESET gained the most World-Wide Market Share (%) in the 6-month period(Jun.-Dec. 2010).
-Kaspersky, Panda, and AVG gained, too.
-AVIRA, avast!, McAfee and MS lost.
How Accurate/Representative is this Report? o_O

I can offer you some more details about the report: The data for OPSWAT’s report is collected through two free tools, AppRemover and “Am I OESIS OK?”. These tools are available free for download to anyone who visits the sites, but at this time the tools are only compatible with Windows OS. Data for the report is therefore from Windows users only, but provides a large sample to represent market share among Windows users.

OPSWAT also has a free interoperability certification program called OESIS OK. Being OESIS OK guarantees that the product is detected by the OESIS Framework and can be included in these reports. OPSWAT includes additional products in the report as well, but not all smaller vendors are included (including every vendor would, of course, be impossible).

For a discussion of why this report may not accurately represent the “worldwide market share” of anti-virus vendors, please see this thread.

They probably have grown a lot, but I don't think this report represents the real market.
