    Hi

Did anyone ever notice that Opera's embedded profile's search engines carry with them unique identifiers which do not change from session to session?

Yes, about a year ago; the main reason that I ditched opera. ;)

It is mentioned in their Privacy statement.

Man I surely do not like that. Is there any known way to either deactivate the process, or opt-out, or some work-around ?

Do you know what the ip address of the ad server is ?

    - I do not have opera installed but, you could try to modify the file and delete the IDs. Then add this newly modified file in an sfx (rar,zip,7zip, etc.) that will point to the folder that resides; an easy way to replace it fast.

The IDs will be recreated but at least they will be not persistent identifiers. Just remeber to run the sfx every few days befor starting Opera

    - No, but you can easily find out with a sniffer or a firewall.

Is this something similar to Chrome?

You can delete all the search items, but this isn't a big issue, in my opinion...

    Hi
    Thanks for your thoughts.
I followed the link you provided, but am troubled by the mention situated at the top of the webpage it points to:
"Privacy, Security, and Advertising in Opera
Note: The following information only applies to Opera versions prior to 8.5. Opera version 8.5 no longer contains advertisment sponsorship.
    "
!? What to make of all this?

Hi... What would make it less important than, say, cookie privacy? Am I missing something that makes me worry too much about those UId's being sent out to any search engine queried by the browser?

Hopefully that IP address is an entry in at least one of the various Hosts files that are available. Two of them are available at...
