I am trying out the latest OA Free version. Seems to work fine and I wonder, if the additional features of the paid version are worthwile. There is something that makes me frown a bit: OA paid needs to be activated and has an "activation limit". Even changes of hardware fall under this restriction That is what it says in the OA FAQs. I would appreciate any comments. -- Frank
The paid version is worth every penny and not expensive at all. Service in their forums and online is absolutely top notch. And renewals are very reasonable...half the original license price. I give it 4 thumbs up...
I use both and much prefer the control of the paid version. There is even currently a Christmas $15 off deal at http://support.tallemu.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=6406 if you want to buy it. The "activation limit" just means you need to go and reset it online once in a while; not a big deal. They just want to make sure you aren't trying to use multiple computers with the same license.
Hi, To be honest, I have no clue how this activation limit works, never needed. I've installed a lot of different OA versions on my computer and I never had to reset my key. Recently I've bought a new system drive, replaced it, restored the images from the old one - no reset needed. When or why to you have to reset your key Cheers
You just have to go to the online armor website and manually reset the activation key if you want to install it on another computer or after significant hardware changes.
@ all Thank you much for replying. Well, comments sound good and the promo makes OA even more interesting. Unfortunately, I run into problems ordering trying to use my credit card. Tall Emu says: I was, however, requested to open a PayPal-account and could not go on without. Sorry about that, but it means I'll stick to OA free. Happy holidays to all of you. -- Frank

True, i agree with Mongol, OA is great product (the best firewall i ever had) and they have excellent support!
@ stapp Thank you for that hint. I had to create an account with Tall Emu to see that .jpg, but my order finally worked out and the activation key arrived at once -- Frank
Not true. You misread the pay page. If you look at the left side it says Credit card. If you have a Pay Pal account, you use the right side of the page under Pay Pal. Just enter your card info and pay. I just did this a few days ago when I renewed. If it isn't working for you it could be your card. Perhaps you can try a different Visa card.
