    Hi Matt,

Could you tell me if Cureit creates anyother files like escan does? (i.e c:\Bases & c:\downloads)

and does it use a different scan engine? just askin coz I have F-Secure as main AV and escan as backup

    Cheers

I'll just tell you about my procedure - after unzipping escan into a folder on my desktop, I ran the update (which creates the bases folder) next I just CUT all the contents of escan from the folder on my desktop and PASTED it straight into the c:\Bases folder (overwriting files) thats all, I have had no problems and I didn't have to delete anything (oh apart for my empty folder on my desktop)

CureIT does not seem to create any extra files, they are all contained into whichever folder you extract it to. And to the best of my knowledge it uses the Dr. Web engine.

Hmm today I updated Escan and all the files went to C:\Downloads instead of C:\Bases. I wonder why? O well I was still able get it updated fine...

I know the eScan ppl much more than you'd think I know......:D

The free eScan was developed also as a 'promotion' of the commercial eScan.

Touche BitDefender online scanner. It found a couple of malware that KAV real-time and on-demand missed on my son's machine. Neither were major but both were an annoyance. McAfee online also missed both.

kavupd dowloads the files to DOWNLOADS then copies what it needs to the BASES folder. If you watch the dos screen you will see this happening at the end.

You can delete the DOWNLOAD folder afterwards if you want but I just leave it alone.
