Because then the crackers/ people who intend to use Nod32 / ESS illegally can easily update their antivirus and noone would really need to purchase a license ;)

    Well,

There some AV vendors that have incorporated anti-piracy to their AVs [e.g., Norton, Kaspersky]. As soon as your license is illegal and it's detected by the AV vendors servers when updating virus-defs, they blacklist those pirated keys but still keep off-line database updates for customers that for a reason or another cannot update their AV virus database on daily basis. I know some particular cases of people [friends], using ESET NOD32 home version and cannot update their virus-defs on daily basis.

I don't wanna delve deeply in to this subject b/c every time a thread of this kind is brought up, it ends up locked.

    Thanks.
