Office XP SP2 patch: WHY?

    How is it possible that only Office XP SP2 has the vulnerability that was fixed by yesterday's security patch. Since Microsoft announced their new Trustworthy Computing initiative, you might suppose that programmers would know how to build in a secure way. Not so. SP2 is a new product and yet it is buggy o_O

    I would like to see a decent explanation, and by decent I mean an other explanation than 'the last bug is yet to be found'.

    With XP SP2 around the corner and Bill Gates blaming the whole world for lots of security issues, could someone please do a source code audit, or at lease have eEye or GreyMagic do some extra checking prior to having MS release this SP?
    Yes, trustlevel is low
