    Hi,

I got an email indicating the Acronis TrueImage 9 is out, so I went to the store to buy it. However, I found only version 8. I contacted tech support to see if they'll give a free upgrade if I purchase the version 8 now. Their reply was:

"I am afraid we cannot provide you with a free upgrade in this case as we provide free upgrade only to those customers who purchased Acronis True Image 8.0 within the time frame from 08/20/2005 to 09/20/2005."

Huh? If I purchase Acronis TrueImage 8.0 before the release date, I would get a free upgrade. If I purchase it now, I won't. What's the deal with this weird policy? Just because you release it doesn't mean the product will instantly appear in the stores. It takes time for your product to reach the distribution channels.

In fact, this will backfire. Customer will buy product, find that it is not the latest version. He or she will return to the store and complaint. Now the vendor and customer are both unhappy.

Yes, I can buy it directly from Acronis, but I get discounts from my vendors unless Acronis plan to match prices.

    Someone please explain...

    Paul

    Hello Paul,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software.

The point is that we just have not yet released the boxed version of Acronis True Image 9.0. It will be available at the retail stores in the near future.

If you want to purchase a boxed version of Acronis True Image 9.0 through your favourite retail store then we will highly appreciate if you will wait a little till the boxed version of the program will appear on the market.

As for the upgrading policy, I'm afraid that most likely it will not be changed in the near future.

    Thank you.
