I'm using xp and my ntuser.dat file now has changed to a Video CD movie. I've ran avast and malware bytes and fscan online and they don't show a virus but I'm pretty sure it is. System restore isn't working for me. How can I fix this..thank you tricia....

    Welcome to Wilders Tricia:)

Download a program called HitmanPro and run a scan with it.
And tell us what HMP finds, if any.

And you can also upload the file www.virustotal.com to see if any vendor detects the file as malware.

Also you can copy and paste the MD5 of the file here.

ntuser.dat shows like video file due to ".dat" extension. You do not need to worry about it. You might have used registry cleaner + registry defragmenter (like Registry Mechanics) which change icon and it shows like video file.
