    Hm...indeed...or...

They played sooo bad that this might have been a brilliant trick of teamcoach Advocaat:
A fabulous performance of playing hide and seek with the Germans....
In which case they already are practising the 4-3-3 system with wings for weeks, behind closed curtains (?):doubt:

Naaah... don't think so, it just was too bad...!!!
(they can't act such bad play! hahaha)

Only silver lining on this very dark cloud is.... that the Germans are mimaking all of the Dutch moves (they also played a dreadful friendly against a B-squad from Hungary and lost with 0-2)

    Man o man what will this lead to.... ? ? ? o_O

Why the hell do the Dutch (= Advocaat...) make it so darn difficult for themselves?!?
They can't play any other tactical, defensive system; it's not in our nature!

    Remember the glorydays of the past and simply play from the (lions-)heart;
like you're used to, like the entire population desires; has always been praised all over the world, and which has proven succesful!

    Let's keep it simple - follow (y)our soul -

    Now, let's play some soccer:

    REMEMBER CRUIJFF, MICHELS, TOTAL-FOOTBALL

    4-3-3 WITH WINGMEN

    HAVE FUN AND...

    ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK !!!

    AMEN. :)

    Hurray!
Finally, finally, finally our conservative little coward teamcoach Dick Advocaat has seen the light - the Dutch will start with 4-3-3 with wingmen against the Germans, next Tuesday!

    gee.... what brilliant insight.......

And now go for it, or as we tend to say:

"De dood of de gladiolen - aanvalluh!"
(The death or the gladioluses - attack!)

Always the same with the Dutch squad: trouble in paradise before the big tournaments! So, this is 'normal', and actually a very good omen:

May I remind you of EURO 1988; back in those days, wasn't there a particular player named Marco van Basten banned to play the first match?
And can we remember how this tournament developed later on? ;):D

    So, no worries, mates!

    We'll be alright

    Ok, here are my predictions/analyses:

    Portugal vs. Greece 2-1

Opening matches mostly tend to be not that spectacular; teams' goal at start of tournament is mainly to not-to-lose :(... so mostly these matches end in a draw. This time however, I think the home-advantage and quality of the Portuguese will make the difference. The Greeks never accomplished very much in the final-stages of big tournaments, yet this year they may be in for a surprising result later on (because of their improving perfomances under German coach Otto Rehhagel).

edit after match: Oops..! Did anyone foresee such spectacular loss?! I didn't  FullTime score: 1-2 !

    Spain vs. Russia 2-0

Neighbours Spain always are regarded among the favourites to win the cup; most of the time it's just not good enough and they get kicked out in the quarter- or semifinals. This year however, with the advantage of their fans nearby, and the quality of the current generation of players, who knows what this tournament might bring for them. I rate them very high.
The Russians are always an unknown factor in the tournaments; they always change their line-up on the last minute, and show up with yet another bunch of new talents.
Still, I believe this will be a piece of cake for Espana; 2-0.

edit after match: Hm, okay a small piece of cake then-I was one goal too optimistic. FullTime result: 1-0

    regards
