    Andrew: Hello! Thank you for contacting Acronis Sales Team! My name is Andrew, how can I assist you?
    Daniel Fenn: a quick question, how can i use the backup server and the group server from workstation 9.1 when you don't put the software on a server?
    Daniel Fenn: i mean you can't put it on win server
    Daniel Fenn: ?
    Andrew: Unfortunately, Acronis Backup Server and Acronis Group Server are not available in Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation edition.
    Daniel Fenn: wait, i just downloaded the trial version, and it's there
    Daniel Fenn: on the install menu
    Andrew: Please hold on for a moment.
    Daniel Fenn: ok
    Andrew: I am sorry for misleading you. Acronis Backup Server and Acronis Group Server are part of Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation.
    Daniel Fenn: ok, how do you put server software on a workstation?
    Andrew: You can install Acronis Backup Server and Acronis Group Server components to any Windows OS, including Server based ones.
    Andrew: But you will not be able to install Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation or Acronis True Image Agent to server based OS.
    Andrew: So you will not be able to backup/restore servers.
    Daniel Fenn: ok, now i get it
    Andrew: Do you have any oter questions?.
    Daniel Fenn: also how can i get my free copy of true image? this is the link to the stie http://www.acronis.com/mag/vnu-ati7/

    Daniel Fenn: ok
    Andrew: I am sorry, but that was a very old promotion for our product. It is not available now. And the product version is very old.
    Daniel Fenn: ok, is there anything that you can do?
    Daniel Fenn: hello?
    Andrew: Please hold on for a moment.
    Daniel Fenn: ok
    Andrew: Unfortunately, we do not have any ongoing promo campaigns.
    Andrew: Acronis software is available for purchasing at: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/
    Daniel Fenn: do you have any for other products?
    Andrew: No, we do not.
    Daniel Fenn: ok, my last question, can i download TrueImageWorkstation9.1_s_en.exe before i pay. i'm at a friend place now who has broad band and i'm getting my parent to pay with their credit card when i get home, but i don't have broad band at home. can you please help me?
    Andrew: You can download a free trial version to estimate how the software works.
    Daniel Fenn: yeah i got that, but i want to get the full version before i go home. where i am now has broad band, but at home i don't
    Andrew: Unfortunately, it is not possible. You need to purchase the product first.
    Daniel Fenn: any reasons?
    Daniel Fenn: i'm trying to make thing easy for myself
    Andrew: I am sorry, but it is the politics of the company.
    Daniel Fenn: i only have dialup at home
    Daniel Fenn: ok thanks

    the part that i'm not happy about is the fact that i can't download the full version of software before i pay for it.

    would someone please explain?

    If you really need the program, why can't you just purchase it at home. Using dial-up won't slow that down. Then just log into your account and download the program the next time you're at your friend's place.

    Hi Daniel.

    I can't see anything wrong with Acronis policy. You asked for a full version download with delayed payment. And what kind of guarantee did you offer to Acronis that you will pay your full version? Your word?
    :rolleyes:

    BTW, you posted the entire conversation, why not just the part concerning your "not happy" state?

    I don't think you'll find enough support for your unhappiness here. Therefore, I think your thread is completely useless.

    Cheers.

    Hello dfenn_x384,

    Thank you for your interest in Acronis Remote Workstation Disk Backup Software.

    Please note that even if you could download the full version of the program before purchase you will still need a serial number to install it. The serial number will be send to you via e-mail along with the link to download the product after you make a purchase. Thus, as MudCrab mentioned after purchase you may use the provided link to download the product from anywhere.

    Also note that as Andrew said Acronis Backup and Group Servers are the part of Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation. And as it was noted these components can be installed under:

    - Windows NT 4.0 Server SP6/2000 Server/2000 Advanced Server/2003 Server;

    - Windows NT 4.0 Workstation SP6, Windows 2000 Professional SP4, Windows XP Professional SP2;

    - Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions;

    - Windows Vista all Editions;

    You can find the list of supported operating systems by Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation components in chapter 1.5.2 "Supported operating systems" in the respective User's Guide.

    Thank you.

    Daniel, when I buy items online, I have to pay for it before I get it - sometimes it is 10 days before I get it. That's the way online purchases work.

    I think what he's looking is a trail copy that can be turned into a fully functional copy once he paid for and get a serial #. This way he can get it downloaded at his friends house, burn it on a CD or a flash drive. Take it home. Get online via dial-up, purchase the product, get the serial and install the downloaded with the serial and have a fully working version. Some other online products have this features that you won't have to re-download a full version, all you need is to enter a authenic serial and you'll unlock full features,

    That woulld be nice, but it's not how the TI trial works.

    I'd guess that this is because they want to let you make a recovery CD, but that trial CD is limited to restore only and not to create an image. I guess it would be hard to change that by just adding a key.
