    Does NortonSystemWorks 2006 allow one to install ONLY the AV component?

    As I recall, Yes. Installation begins with selecting the portions to be installed. Some of them, (like GoBack :) and CleanSweep :( ) need to be installed completely on their own.

    Following install, CP Add/Remove has a "Modify" option to change the features installed. I used this to just remove first the Firewall (to install ZA) and then the AntiVirus (to install AntiVir Classic).

    The rest of the 'works remains, along with WinFax Pro and PartitionMagic and Symantec NetDetect and LiveUpdate needed Firewall Blocking. (Left LiveUpdate for the event of Updates to the remaining Symantec Programs, but it won't give up on trying to Update a long gone AV.)
