In 1932, Tesla supposedly powered an 1800 rpm 80 hp electric motor fitted in a 1931 Pierce Arrow with a box placed in the passenger seat. The car allegedly attained speeds of 90 MPH.
"Where does it get it's power?", reporters asked Tesla. "From the ether," he replied.

    RPM-1800=volts-180
    torque-233=amps-233

Thats a lot of power needed. 180*233=41.2Kw And from the ether.

I couldn't verify this story via New York Times as searching beyond a certain date in archives requires a fee.
