My laptop is running Win XP Pro SP3. HD is 80gig, partitioned to C, D, E and F (that partitioning was done many years ago - don't ask!)

I was having some AV problems, and (unaware of NOD32 v5 problems with external USB HDs) I upgraded to v5.0.94.0.

I wanted to take advantage of the new feature and create a Rescue CD, but NOD32 tells me that my XP does not have AIK installed. And to install AIK, it looks like I'd need to first run upgrade KB926044.

    [added:http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=9085 ]

From what I read on the MS site about installing the AIK (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926044), I can't tell if the AIK is appropriate for my XP.

Can anyone provide accurate information? Is is OK to run the upgrade and install the AIK?

If so, I need a lot more information for guidance... TIA for any help!

If not, then NOD32 should detect my OS as WinXP, and not offer the option.
