On a fresh Windows XP Pro SP3 installation I installed NOD32 5.0.93.0 (trial).
    Then I updated the definitions.
The only settings I changed was to enable detection of potentially unwanted/harmful applications in two places.
After that I disabled temporarily the protection (for 10 minutes) and later tried to restart Windows.
During shutdown it stopped and hung there for hours.

This was in a VirtualBox VM, with the VB guest additions installed.
I also had bo2k.exe on the desktop.

About the changed settings, it was the ThreatSense option for "Potentially unsafe applications". Or "Potentially unsafe applications". I don't remember which is not enabled by default, anyway, I set both to enabled (checked).

    Hello,

Does the problem occur in a host OS installation, or using different virtualization software software than VirtualBox?

    Regards,

It turned out it was a virtualbox bug, causing the VM to hang at the very end of shutdown, when it should restart.

So most probably this has nothing to do with NOD32.
