    hello,

i want to make a portable version of nod32 av, so that i can scan every pc i want for virussus.
it`s way handier that way, so i started puzzling.

i have followed all the steps of the article in the knowledgebase (http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2103), but it wont boot from it (all i see is a black screen....).

can somebody ask me the wright questions and try to help me further?

    thanks.

    hello Nerimash,

    tnx for the fast reply.
you have send me the same article as i has posted in my post.
all the steps pointed there i have followed.
you said that i cant do it that way because of license violationo_O??
BUT in that article stands (and i QUOTE):

"NOTE: SysRescue automatically uses the AV Username from your license. If you have multiple licenses you may want to use the one with the longest lifespan"

so that what you say must be untrue.

and apperently it doesn`t matter where you start from:

QUOTE: "1.Open the main program window by clicking the ESET icon next to your system clock or by clicking Start → All Programs → ESET → ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus"

SysRescue doesn't equals portable AV version this is a difference.

So, not of all USB Flash drives designed to be bootable. You can check it on appropriate vendor site.

As far as I know some BIOS doesn't detect any flash drive as bootable if drive doesn't formatted in FAT16 file system, so you may need to format your flash drive into FAT16 and follow again these steeps which are described in SysRescue KB article.

hmmm, maybe it`s not totally clear.
i have installed on my laptop the av of nod32, with SYSrescue and SYSinspector.
from or with that installed software i want to be able to scan a pc with my usb stick (because sometimes a pc doesn`t work that wel because of a virus (suspection of a virus) and you cant go into windows because once there the os freezes and other funny/rear behavior).

by he way this is my first confrontation/time with nod32........

    THIS could be true.....
    ill get back on that.....^^

If I understand you right you are speaking about SysRescue technology because it has only scan support with virus signature databases and hasn't other AV modules like E-mail monitor or HTTP monitor etc. Portable version of any program, by my means, it's a program that doesn't requires installation but saves all functionality. In almost of all cases you need to disassemble/patch(or any other steps) program's code which is needed by program to run. But disassembling/patching any of commercial programs it's always licence violation. Correct me if I'm wrong.

What about your problem? You got rid of it?
