I dual boot on the one machine between Windows Vista and Windows XP - is it possible and/or legal, under the licence terms and conditions, to use the same username and password for both installs? It's physically one machine, one hard disk, but just two partition with both OSs.

Hi, one license is sufficient for the scenario you've described. Once you start involving a terminal server or virtual machines, more licenses would be required.
