Hi all, and all the best for 2006

Yesterday I downloaded and installed the latest version of Nod 32 for Windows 98 after uninstalling McAfee Virusscan. The installation went smoothly and the software works for updates and virus scanning. When I try to start Outlook 2000 it hangs after showing the initial splash screen .....

    I have
    - tested with Nod32 switched off with the same result
    - disabled several of the Nod32 features
    - used the Winsock fix
    - uninstalled and reinstalled Nod32

Any advice will be appreciated :)

    Hi Tony4carr,

have you tried to disable the outlook integration in EMON settings ? and / or to disable EMON itself ?

    For Outlook integration :
Nod32 Control Center -> EMON -> SETUP -> Environment -> untick the boxes 'Show in menu' and 'Show in toolbar'.

    hth

Does the problem actually go away after uninstalling NOD32? Couldn't it be that MS Outlook is trying to load McAfee's scanner which actually ain't installed anymore?

Hi Marcos, Uninstalling nod32 makes no difference. I have also cleaned the registry to remove traces of the McAfee Virus Scanner. At this point I am beginning to think that I may need to uninstall and reinstall Outlook

Try deleting the file Documents and Settings\%user%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\extend.dat to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the advice Marcos, took a similar route. Renamed extend.dat as extendold.dat and then rebooted. Still no improvement ....
